Studying both fine art and design has allowed me the opportunity to create work in both fields. While I continue to work on commercial design projects I also teach traditional painting, drawing and printmaking to diploma level at an independent art school.
Working across a diverse range of printmaking mediums, my practice is largely focused on studio-based explorations of the figure and ground – this often begins with a model or other source material and is slowly adapted through a repetitive process of addition, subtraction and reworking.
I've always held a fascination with psychology states, unconscious drives, and their intersection with culture. As such, many of my works see individuals shown in a narrative context that can represent aspects of philosophy, history and contemporary culture with a focus on the figure as a culturally embedded symbolic object.
